Making Changes For Better Health

Do you feel like you are in a rut? Does it seem that no matter what you do, your health issues don’t improve? Do your friends tell you to forget about being more healthy and that you are too old to make significant changes?

Instead of forgetting about making changes, you need to forget about what your friends say! You can get out of that rut! There definitely is hope that you can make some changes and become more healthy. Let’s get started with a few things you can do to feel better.

Before you get started on your new plan for a healthy life, it is important to take an inventory of what your pattern has been in the past. That pattern has to be broken before you can make any significant changes regarding your health.

Write down what your daily routine is like. Are you mostly active or inactive during the day? What is your sleep pattern like? Are you having trouble getting to sleep or staying asleep? Do you exercise on a regular basis? This can include things like walking around the block or moving your legs up and down if you are not able to walk far.

How often do you eat during your waking hours? How much junk food do you eat every day? Do you eat before you go to bed? Do you eat a healthy breakfast or just grab a coffee and a donut on the way out of the door in the morning? You might keep a record of your eating habits for a week. Each day write down what you, when and where you eat, and whether you eat alone or with other people. This should include eating while you are talking on the phone.

One thing that is important to know is that your inside person needs to be fed and cared for as well as your body. Your brain needs exercise as much as your body does. Challenge yourself every day to do some reading. It would be good to read something that is encouraging to you and the changes you are trying to make. Read something inspirational. It doesn’t have to be a huge book, just a little devotional guide will do. There are groups online that will send you a daily devotional guide each morning.

After you have become more conscious of how you live each day, you will be more able to make the changes that will improve your health, physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. Your written inventory will be a valuable part of beginning to improve your health.

Are you like millions of people in our country who are trying to lose weight? Obviously, you are not alone in this challenge. Check with your primary physician before starting any new food plan. He may even give you a menu list for your health conditions. That would be a big help. If you are financially able to, see a nutritionist who can really give you a boost to get you started. Remember that the goal has to be first to eat more healthy, not about losing those extra pounds. Once you are eating more healthy food, the weight will begin to fall off.

Of course, you and your doctor will establish your exercise plan according to your physical condition. Just do a little bit each day, 15 minutes is plenty to start with. Just be diligent about doing your exercising. Your body will thank you!

Once you have incorporated your devotional time, new food plan, exercise routine and healthy sleep pattern, you are well on your way to feeling more healthy and happy.
