Meditation Can Lower Blood Pressure

The concept behind meditation is to calm. More importantly, it is meant to reduce stress. When you are aggravated or angry your blood pressure rises. Perhaps you work in an office where deadlines seem to occur every day. Perhaps you work at home and there is so much to do and so little time to do it that you tend to get anxious and upset.

No matter which category you fall into, there are little tips that can help you in alleviating the stress and help to relieve the anger and frustration you are feeling. If you are at work take 5 minutes and find a quiet place where you can begin a deep-breathing exercise. Close your eyes and breathe in and out slowly. In no time the stress will be gone and your blood pressure will return to a normal level.

The same holds true if you work at home. Find a quiet room and just sit down for 5-10 minutes and breathe in and out slowly and deeply. Another tried and true method is to stand in front of a window, legs bent, with arms at your side. Bring your arms up slowly in the form of a circle and bring them into the middle of your body. This is a form of yoga called Qi Gong. It not only relaxes you but also will bring your blood pressure down to a normal level.

It doesn’t matter where you are, you can practice deep breathing meditation. You can accomplish it at the mall, at school, at home, at work or whenever you feel you are about to explode due to stress and pressure.

Meditation can and does reduce high blood pressure, which can cause a myriad of health conditions unless you keep it in check. Meditation is great for the mind and the heart as well.
